Synaptics Mouse locks up

Hi guys,

I had to do a clean install because of a virus and now I find that the pointing pad locks up and does not respond sometimes. If I leave the machine for 10 minutes it sometimes comes back and I have a mouse again, Strangley an external USB mouse does the same thing.

Install was done with legit XP disc.

Anyone got ant ideas?

Hi Phil,

Try the following:

Click Start >/ settings > control panel > display > settings > advanced > Troubleshoot (or performance)…and move the hardware acceleration bar down a bit.
