Trouble connecting to Wanadoo wireless box from FE11M model

Hi
Just got my new sony vaio fe11m and when I try to connect to my wanadoo live box, it just sticks in acquiring address mode.
I've tried my old laptop and that still connects so its not wanadoo.
They won't help as they do not support 3rd party wireless adapters. Anyone got any ideas ? I have entered the correct WEP key.
Thanks.

Your Firewall may be blocking the connection. Have you tried turning off your Firewall and trying to connect?

You could also try turning off the WEP encryption to eliminate that as a cause.

Is there a physical wireless switch on the FE11M?

firewall is turned off.

will try without wep key to see if that works, it connects to the box but cannot acquire an address and therefore does not connect to internet

Don't know anything about Wanadoo modem/routers!

I presume it acts as a DCHP server to allocate addresses automatically?

If not you may have to use a fixed IP address for your PC and get into the router settings to enter this new address.

Type Run > IPConfig in the start menu - does your PC have an IP address?

I presume you have run the Network & Wireless Network Wizard (or a Wanadoo version). It may be worth checking that the XP Firewall is turned off as the wireless wizard enables this automatically.

What shows up in your Network Connections screen?

What make is the Wanadoo box?
