Welcome to Club Vaio

See on the printed Specification Guide if your model has built in tuner. I don't think you have a built in tuner on your A617B.
You can get a port replicator (Docking station) for your laptop.
In Sony Style or Sony.co.uk
But this doesn't seem to have a RF in (doesn't mention).

Maybe it's easier to buy USB TV tuner.
Wonder whether this will work with Vaio Zone (the TV mode in Vaio Zone intended to)

I know a way to get free TV  .
(Thats if you don't feel like paying for the PC/Laptop TV tuner thingy)
Search google for TVUPlayer, you'll soon find that its
pretty good and beats paying for a a PC/Laptop TV Tuner.

P.S
You may not find this information usefull at all,
but its the best i found for free tv (Plus others may find this usefull)

My notebook is a vgnA217 WITH dockingstation, which never worked to copy my old VHS into it, nor to watch tv.
you suggest a USB TV tuner. If you were sure it works, I would buy it. Who has any experience with it?

Hi there,

I've been using a Freecom USB tuner on my A417M for about a year. Works pretty well and they seem to be quite decently priced now too.

I dont think it works with the TV feature of VAIO Zone. But other applications work (Such as showshifter or other PVR's.
