upgrade hard disk

hi g'day,
I upgraded my PCG-F190(very old vaio) hard disk from 6G to 40G. I try to recover the system using recovery CD, it seems not worken with the larger disk over 8G. should I update the BIOS?
any suggestion would be appreciated.

You could try an upgraded BIOS, if Sony have it, then it will be on VAIO-Link (see signature below for link).

Otherwise you are probably better off getting a separate version of Windows instead and then copying what you want off the recovery CD/CD's.

Make sure you read the readme file which is shown before download.
