use the recovery discs

Hi gentlemen,

I am a little curious. Normally I use Norton ghost to back up my pc's. On my nice and shining sony VGN-A295HP there was already a backup program installed. I followed the advise and made some recovery dvd¿s.

I still don¿t have to use them, but I am a little curious how it works.

Can I just boot from the dvd¿s and the recovery starts or do I have to use the F10 key during the boot?

Thanks Maurice

Hi

Welcome to the forum:smileyhappy:

You should be able to stick the disc in the machine and boot up from there.

Thanks for the welcome!

That sounds super! I think that this is one of the reasons I trusted on SONY.

As I said I am a little curious...

So I dont have to change anything in the bios (boot sequence?), it always looks for a bootable disc? When the laptop boots the disc, there will come a menu to restore the backup? Can I try it once just for fun (without restoring the backup)?

I heard about the F10 function. Is this the button to get in the BIOS settings?

Sorry for all the question, but the laptop gives me a lot of fun, and I want to know as much as I can...

Usually you have to make sure the boot sequence is correct, but once thats done it should work.

Yup, keep hitting it when you see the Sony logo on boot up

Thought that was for the hard disk image - not for booting from DVD?

Ah, in which case I think it's the F2 key you hit.
