USING THE TV FUNCTION ON AR21S

I have long been a vaio user, and have recently bought the VGN AR21S with built in tv tuner. I am connecting a homechoice digital box to the composite in port, and trying to configure the media center, but cannot get past the IR detection screen as it says no ir hardware detected. Now sony have no port to connect any ir hardware on the ar21s, so any ideas on what exactly i can do to get the composite in to work. thanks in advance.

The only way you can control the external box and view the composite input using media centre is if you register the box as the tv source(stb) and have an ir blaster. This will mean that you can't use the internal tuner as windows media centre only allows one programme guide.

The composite input should still work with applications such as movie maker.

I believe this is an inbuilt limitation of the Microsoft software . . . . unless someone knows differently . . . .
