vaio desktop lcd display

what do i need to plug a vaio desktop lcd display into a vga or dvi input on my vaio laptop. The desktop display has around 30 pins.

Hi peterbelic and welcome to the club.

Have a look HERE and click on Cable Finder. You should be able to identify the two connections you need and see if there is a suitable cable.

You don't tell us your Vaio model but most have a VGA 15 pin monitor output (HDDB 15). Not sure what monitor connection you have - you will have to search for it.

The monitor came with the vaio pcv lx1desktop and the monitor is a pcva-15xa2 . Could not see the exact connector in the link you sent

On your desktop there won't be any DVI:smileysad: output. (it's quite an old Vaio model)
use the VGA connection.:smileyhappy:

I think the LX1 has a DFP connection (Digital Flat Panel).

DIGITAL MONITOR CONNECTIONS

This is a digital only connection. You can buy a DFP to DVI converter to attach to your DVI port.
