vaio fr315m sound quality

bought this a few months ago, just used it to play a music cd for the first time and the sound is very quiet. have checked all the setting in xp and also the sony fn button but still cant make it louder.
any help appreciated, or is it faulty?

Apparently that model doesn't have a very loud speaker system.
