Vaio laptop display n longer dims, does not respond to changes in power options

changing the settings on this screen does nothing, it used to respond and change to any of the 9 settings. Now its just stuck on maximum brightness no matter what profile or power source.

Sounds like your inverter might be damaged, or the utilities might need to be reinstalled. So I'd do the latter first and see if this sorts anything out.

What about when you press the FN+F4 or F5 keys?

The Fn keys havent worked from the beginning after i uninstalled some sony apps, but this didnt affect the screen brightness being adjusted from the power options.

ok so the Fn keys work now i've fixed them with some help in the other thread

but when i try to dim the brightness it pops up but doesn't actually allow me to move down in brightness and it doesnt dim the screen
