Vaio TX5MN Broken Screen and External Monitor

HI

I have a TX5MN linked up to an external monitor since I cracked the screen.

I now want to upgrade to Windows 7 which apparently requires me to boot from DVD.

The problem I have is that I can't see the BIOS screens on the monitor, and althought I've managed to boot from an external DVD (copying the keystrokes blind from another TX5) I have been unable to get far enough into the Windows 7 boot process to get any external output.

Is there any way of enabling the VGA output before Windows 7 loads the approprite drivers.

Thanks

John

I don't think so as the VGA output is a Windows setting and can only be activated after Windows loads

I have not tried it but when it is booting from the DVD, press F8 repeatedly to open the Advanced Boot Options screen.  Try to boot into Safe Mode.

Long shot I'm afraid but worth a try.
