Vaio VGN-AR51SU disc tray open button not working

I have upgraded from Vista to Windows 7. I have installed all the Drivers recomended by Driver Toolkit software. I have installed and run Vaio Update.

Only one problem, the disk tray open close button does not work.

I can open the tray from Windows Explorer, but only if there is a disk in the tray, if not I must use a pin to open the tray manually.

I guess that there is some other driver required, but Device Manager show no problems.

Anyone got any suggestions??

Yes the drive functions perfectly. It is only the "Eject" button that
does not work.

Yes it is this button that I am trying to get working.

They all work except Eject.
There are a group of buttons to the left of the Keyboard. They are S1
and S2, Volume +/- , Disk Eject, and Mute.

Hi DonkeyDog,

If your VAIO has a removable battery, could you try removing the battery and re-inserting it? Sometimes a simple power reset is all you need.

Worth trying I suppose.

It does seem strange that the other buttons work OK. A physical problem is unlikely if it works in Windows.

Do you get a "Ejecting" message on screen when you press the eject key?

Do you get a screen message when you press the 'Mute' key or change the volume?

What happens when you press S1 or S2? Does a box pop up allowing you to program what S1 and S2 do?

If you do not get these pop ups then you are missing the 'Setting Utility Series' utility. Let me know and I will upload a copy for you.

Tried removing the battery and then re booting. No change.

As regards on screen messages. S1,S2 and Tray open do not produce any on screen message (I am not sure what the S1 and S2 buttons are supposed to do. Film Mode? How would I know if they are functioning).

Mute, Volume up and down, all give appropriate on screen acknowledgments.

If S1 and S2 are working, press and hold and the Setting Utility Series will open. You can then choose yourself what you want to use these buttons for:

Multiple Monitors, External Monitor, Max Screen Brightness, Hibernate, Sleep, open an application of your choice .... and more.

I seems you do not have this Utility installed - I have sent you a link by email.

Worth a try to get the keys working - not sure if it fix the eject problen!

I have downloaded all of those driver packages.

Thank you.

I will be away from home for the rest of the week so I will not try them
until the weekend. I will let you know if anything helps.
