Hi, I'm new to this forum... I bought a few weeks ago a Vaio VGN-FS315B. I'd like to upgrade it's 512Mb RAm to 1Gb. I bought recently a memory module from aeneon AET660SD00-370A98X which is supposed to work with this module. Apparently it doesn't work. Is there anything I have to know about Vaio and Ram modules? Is there any setting I have to change?
Thanks in advance,
P
Hi papael and welcome to the forum.
As far as I can tell from the specifications for that module it should be compatible
Specification
Mfr Part Number: AET660SD00-370A98X
Type: SODIMM
Capacity: 512MB
Speed: DDR2 533
Size & Bit: 64 M x 64
Pins: 200pin
ECC: No
Registered: No
Aeneon Original Memory
There is a possibility that the module is faulty, not seated correctly or is at odds with the existing module. Have you tried the new module on its own? I suggest that you visit Crucial.com and use their System Scanner to determine the exact type of your existing memory.
Thanks for the input Rich912.
I think it has something to do with the code on the label (i don't undertand it)
the original Ram has labeled 2Rx16 PC2-3200S-333-11
The new Ram has 2Rx16 PC2-4200S-444-11.
there seems to be some difference between them...
The site you recommended proved to be very helpul, thanks...
