vgc-v2m

Hi, I have a vgc-v2m and would like to get the new Microsoft Vista system, but on checking this computer will only take the basic level. I would like to get a higher spec and was wondering whether the vgc-v2m can be upgraded or would it be simpler to get a new Vaio and if so what would you suggest (Laptop may be sufficient)!
Thanks

When all the updated drivers are available, I would expect your V2M to be able to cope with most Vista components.

Your TV card will have problems and you may need to get a USB DVB Tuner. Someone will find an updated nVidia driver and sound drivers. Vaio Zone is probably a no-no so you will need the Home Premium version to replace it.

Although it may only recommend the basic version (this is probably because you are using XP Home now) have you tried selecting 'Ultimate' in the Vista Advisor and listing the components that will not work?
