Battery Life

Recently purchased Sony VaioSZ3XWP/C and need power back up for travelling. Thinking of purchasing spare battery and would like to know how long laptop battery would hold it's charge for when not in use. Days,weeks,months? Grateful for any information.

All rechargeable batteries will lose power over time and laptop Li-Ion batteries are no exception.

It depends on the condition of the battery, as power loss increases with age (not just with batteries LOL).

A normal battery should retain about 60% for a month and will probably hold enough to operate the laptop after two months. I wouldn't count on it being much use for any longer.
