VGN-FJ1S CD/DVD Has disappeared from my Notebook...HELP!

Hi
can anyone help me with the disappearance of my CD/DVD it apparently no longer exists on my PC,when I open up my computer there is no icon and if I insert a disc I can hear the drive trying to read the disc but then nothing happens,please if anyone can help I would be very grateful...

Go to Device manager, are there any error messages or icons next to the CD/DVD drive.?

thanks for your speedy reply,there is no error message and there is no icon in the device manager for the cd/dvd drive....

Hi John,

It is not that unusual to lose your optical drive from 'My Computer' and 'Explorer' - this can usually be corrected, but if there is no section in Device Manager for "+ DVD/CD-ROM Drives" then you have a hardware problem and an engineer will need to look at your Vaio.
