I have a sony notebook, which is almost new. It came with 512 MB of RAM which is barely enough to run just the OS and Office apps. Looking at the online information it appears as though the maximum memory is 1GB, and worse still there are only two slots, each of which are occupied by 256 MB modules. So to upgrade it I need to throw away the memory that came with it, and pay over 300 pounds for new memory!
512 MB of memory might have been acceptable a few years ago (its what my entry level home PC has, and that is 5 years old).
Is there really no better option for upgrading?
The answer is to buy memory from someone like Crucial. You will find a bit of a price difference compared to Sony!
