VGN-FS115M + smarcard reader REFLEX 20 Hangs

Hello everybody

I've a VGN-FS115M XP home SP2, Bios & Software updated.
I installed a PCMCIA smart card reader schlumberger Reflex 20 with last drivers (3.6.0.1) . As soon I insert a smartcard, everything freezes (without any message).

This smartcard reader worked fine previously on my Toshiba notebooks.

Any idea ?
thanks in advance

Try googlinjg the name of the PCMCA card reader - as VAIO Link doesn't seem to have any new drivers.

Thanks

But I already looked for the device drivers thru Google and I installed the last drivers delivered by the manufacturer.

The smart crd reader worked on my previous toshiba M30 notebook. (XP SP2 too). So it seems to be a Vaio-related problem.

What type is it, Type II or Type III?

What type is it, Type II or Type III?

It's obviously a Type II (I think it's impossible to use a Type III on FS115M !).

After inquiry at Schlumberger, it seems that Reflex 20 is no longer supported and drivers delivered "as is" without warranty. They have moved to Reflex 20 V2 which is the only PCMCIA smart card reader they support now :slight_frown: :slight_frown:

I think I will move to GEMPLUS GPR400.

Anyone knows if GEMPLUS PCMCIA smart card reader works fine with FS115M ?

Can you not use a USB reader? Would save you a lot of money.

Yes you're right.
Because my PCMCIA reader doesn't work, I use an USB one instead and it works fine.

It's just not very easy to use when i'm not at office (another piece of hardware to transport, put beside notebook and plug)

thanks a lot for all your responses

Yeah thats why I like my exec case for my notebook, pleanty of space for that sort of thing.

I wish Sony would opt for more media readers in the laptops like they did with the RA104.
