Vista is here. Where are the Drivers?

The subject of this thread says it all.

Sony, where are the drivers? I paid 1700 Euros for my FE11S half a year ago. I think it's more than about time for Sony to release drivers "Vista compatible". Everything works but the power management features, lowering the bright of the screen and so on, among others, is NOT working which means I can't use Vista on batteries properly because the screen's maximum brightness eats the whole battery quickly.

Am I asking too much for a 1700 Euros laptop? Is this the kind of after sales service I can expect from the all mighty Sony? Vista RTM is already shipping, and I'm still waiting for Vista drivers, whilst there's a cute and nice "Windows vista" features icon in the vaio-link.com page. It's even ironic. Starting to feel too much dissapointed about all this...

Sorry but nothing will change by complaining constantly in this thread, Sony's execs have told them not to release the drivers until the day that Vista is on the shop shelves.

That sounds less positive then the guy from some posts ago.

But it's now clear that the Sony execs don't care about their customers. I'll keep it in mind.

The Volume License customers will get their Vista Nov 30, so 8 nights left.

I was complaining about the fact that there is no communication from sony oh this ....
And i am actually wondering if sony will release the drivers for computer like S3 S4 .... but i just received a mail from usa tech support saying that nothing is currently planned and if there is drivers release it will be just for vista compatible computers ...

Just 8 nights left. I'm checking the drivers page every single day hoping to find something for Vista. No luck so far.

I love the design of my FE11S, despite the hard drive clicking problem that I'll fix replacing the drive in the future, and despite the usb "this device can perform faster" after long hybernation periods, and despite the drivers lack, or, let's say, almost complete lack of support. However, next time I buy a laptop I will seriously consider getting a Macbook - at this pace, quite possibly I'll be able to get Vista drivers for it sooner than my for my Vaio.

ayu61200 I don't work for Sony, but I know their attitude too and I don't like it as much as you! But I know one thing about Sony: they're not going to crash and burn to peer preasure and all you're doing is winding up other members - and where does this lead us? Nowhere really?

Volume Licence users are not really part of this equation are they? Unless you're a business user and IT install the system for you. But as I've said many times before VAIO makes a bad business system, as it's really not intended for that market, or just badly marketed, take your pick!

IBM are all set, Sony really needs to recognise that the business users are going to need that extra support.

I don't know, but I have a hard time to imagine Sony aims at the consumer market with their expensive SZ-range and the TX-books. I do have the carbon SZ but that's only because my boss wanted to support me by paying 1000 euros.

I don't know how print advertisments look in de UK, but in NL it's a man in a suit holding a VAIO  Anyway, I just wish they do care about Vaio users enough and won't wait till January the 30th.

I just got a catalogue from Sony with business laptops, so they really should start supporting people in this field, because if you write specialist software for Vista, you need Vista. I guess you could ignore the bells and whistles but it defeats the point.

Come on Sony, stop being mean to your customers and release the drivers!

I have just browsed to find solution about the FN volume and brightness settings on Vista... I have Vaio FS-495 VP and for me works Sony Event Service utility which is aviable to download for TX-3.

Yes, I read it in other threads. The TX3 drivers do not work with a FE11S, tried it 2 weeks ago and no luck.

Kee-lo, got your point but just want to say I'm not trying to wind up anyone; Just saying what I think, sharing here - later on the rest of the users can agree with my point of view or not. However, I'm not trying to wind up anyone against sony. Most of the people who write here already spent more than a thousand Euros/USD on a Vaio laptop and that's why I think we have the right to let Sony know about our displeasure. If someone at Sony ever read any forum, it must be this one - I guess!

The issue here is; Who is responsible at Sony for the poor scheduling and business development that leads to this consequently again poor customer support? More than "we never release drivers until the system is on the shelves", I read "we don't have the capacity to release those drivers as we lack the needed human power and correct organization to handle the release of drivers for 15+ different Vaio models". Everything else are excuses from my point of view. Other brands already have their drivers online - and they're cheaper than Sony. They could at least remove the "Vaio recommends Windows Vista" slogan from their website!

No problem.

I'm just trying to avoid a problem where someone gets annoyed with you (like the management) - though this time I agree with you fully, they should be considering business users if they're going to market them - I've even got the brocure to prove it Sony!

I guess the software developers at Sony have a meeting with the management and think whether it's a good time to release the new drivers.
