Want a SVS1513C5E with Win7 not Win 8

I would really, really like to purchase a top of the range
SVS1513C5E, but absolutely,
unequivocally do NOT want Windows 8 as part of the deal. It's useless from a productivity stand point.

I want Windows 7 as part of the package.

If I can't have Win 7 instead of Win 8, then Sony have lost me as a customer.

What
do you say Sony? Can I "decide" what OS I want with my Laptop please,
rather than "dictate" to me what OS good old Microsoft say you should
sell with your laptops.

Hi colby_gj and welcome.

This is a User Forum - so there will be no answers from Sony here.

My guess would be the answer will be no as there are no Windows 7 drivers and utilities available for download for this model - the only Vaio now sold with Windows 7 installed is the SVZ1311C5E.

Have you tried speaking to Sony on the Sales Support telephone line - 0207 365 2413 - for a definite answer?

Blencogo,

Thank you for your for the reply.

I have indeed spoken to Sony sales support, and the last of the SVZ range was
sold just 24 hours earlier.

I have to admit though that even if it was, the cost for that range of laptop was
just a bit too much for wallet.

I have submitted a new email to support, asking if there is a Win 7 driver pack
from an earlier model from Sony that uses the same hardware in the SVS1513C5E.

I'm hoping that is the case, as Sony is losing me as a customer if they can't
provide Win 7 drivers for this make of laptop. I have "dabbled" with
Win 8, and for me, including some of the applications/programs I use, Win 7 HAS
to be the OS of choice. I really don’t like Win 8 on a "non touch" enabled laptop.

If Sony don't provide a Win 7 driver pack, my only option is to design a laptop from
a company called PCSpecialist, who can put together a pretty high spec 15.6
Ultranote laptop, with hardware that DOES have Win 7 drivers. The only drawback
is the graphics relies on the Intel HD400, and is not a backlight keyboard. Minor things I know, but my preference would be the Sony.

I'm sure I'm not the only "PC Professional" in this predicament, and I'm sure it's one of the causes for the current decline in PC/Laptop sales that the manufactures are bemoaning about.

Sony,
please take note.

To anyone interested.

Sony HAVE released Win7 drivers for this model Laptop. Bliss.

So patience and politeness in support calls has elicited a fantastic result here.

I'm aware of other new owners of this same make of laptop wanting to run just Win
7, and Sony have to their credit responded rather quickly IMHO.

Thanks Sony, You've made me a very happy customer indeed.
