Water damage on Vaio VGN-A115M

Hi!
I accidently spilled some water onto my A115-M. It seems like a drop actually got inside on the mainboard because my notebook turned off from one moment to the other.

I tried to dry the mainboard - it didn't help. When i press the power button the vaio isn't doing anything at all.

As there isn't guarentee on my notebook any more I opened it and one little thing on the mainboard looks burned.

I wasn't able to figure out what it is, maybe a condensator?

Is there any chance to buy a new condensator (or whatever it is) and replace it myself?

Greets
Michael

Hi Darkon84,

I have no idea as to what this component may be, but even if you could find a suitable replacement, re-soldering it to the motherboard, without the correct equipment, is not for the feint hearted and could easily damage things beyond economic repair.

Unless you are technically competent I suggest that you contact a professional.

Ouch, that's bad :slight_frown:

As Rich says you're going to need a motherboard technician
