what does it mean to my cd/dvd drive?

after i installed a software for my webcam, my cd/dvd drive will not work any more. it said that the drive program can not be uploaded to the memory. and then i had to restore my system back to let the cd/dvd drive work again. but then i will loose the program of webcam. it happened already two times.

The webcam is requiring your device driver to be rewritten so as not to cause a conflict with the optical drive drivers. A patch may be available from the webcam manufacturer but it it may be just as easy to see if vista or xp recognises the webcam and use the basic drivers provided by the auto detection and not to install the software at all for the webcam. Either that or google to see what webcams don't cause a conflict.
