Wireless Networking Problems

Hi All,

I have three desktop PC's at home which I successfully networked together about a year ago. I have just purchased an S2XP laptop and I'm having trouble getting this on to the network. The strange thing is that the laptop can wirelessly access the Internet OK so it is talking to the Lynksys ADSL modem/router OK and, when I try look at the network on the other PC's, they can all see the laptop. None, however, will map a drive or directory on it. SImilarly I cannot map anything on the desktops to the laptop. If I ping the desktops from the laptop it is successful but if I ping the laptop from any desktop it times out. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Paul.

It sounds like a firewall problem. Try temporarily disabling it.

Hi Rob,

thanks for your help. I went in to the Norton Security Centre and disabled the firewall. Bingo! It all came to life. I've re-enabled the firewall and configured it to accept my network. It all seems to work now. Thanks again for the very fast repsonse.

Paul.

No problem - it's the little things that catch us all out.
