Sony WH-1000 MX3 Build Quality

Hopefully this is the right forum.

Over the last 12 months, I have bought 2 Sony WH-1000 MX3s, and both had the same problem (I returned 1 to get a refund).  The problem being the headband, more specifically the band that connects the speakers (I can't think of a better word), to the headband.  They keep snapping off.  The speakers themselves are fine, but the plastic that goes up and down keeps breaking off.  Usually, it's the right side that breaks first, then, the left, and now on the right side, it's broken even more with the speaker now dangling by the cable.

I've included a link to photos of the headphone.  Am I just using the headphones wrong?  I can't believe that both have broken in the same place, in a similar time.

@Joe_Dohn I mean the momentum overear headphones, not the earbuds.

(Earbuds irritate me as the audio gets mushed too much... altho those momentum earbuds... they sound allright tho', a bit "boomy" on the low end, but still neutral enough) perfectly fixable to your likings with build in Eq's on the devices imo.

Just remember, that "BOOMY" sound on earbuds/headphones... is just the manufacturer's way to say what they're capable of...

To me it's allways funny to see/read reviews "Too Boomy, so watch out for those..." LOL! Ever heared of an EQ??

EACH device that transmits audio these days has an build in EQ app/setting so you can "colour" your audio to your likings... So don't get distracted by that too much as you can make very "boomy" headphones sound crystal clear by manually eq-ing & tweaking a bit.

@N.D.M-9100 Oh I knew you meant the over-ears, and I feel the same way about IEMs and TW earbuds, but the feedback I got for the Tevi's was all but glowing and I just had to try it for myself.

What you said about boomy, neutral, EQ and tweaking is exactly what I think myself, that's why I'm going for neutral cans and buds, trying to find what I like the best with gear that'll give me the most playroom.

I really appreciate all the info and the fast responses!

Cheers,

JD
