Sony Xperia 1 Wide Angle Lens Gimbal

Hi

I'm about to buy a gimbal for my xperia 1 but I'm wondering which will be the best fit given the wide angle lens and how it will be caught in the image.

I'm really into the wide angle and I'm in a bit of a pickle.

Looking at the freefly mobi but would take any recomendations.

Thank you

The Freefly Movi Robot you mention is a good option and it was used on the Sony commissioned short film 'Taste' which you can see on Youtube (also the behind the scenes film). However, as I'm sure you've seen, it's pretty expensive at over £300.

Cheaper options would be to purchase something like the DJI Osmo 3 or FeiyuTech Vimbal 2 or 2S as the roll axis motor is offset and less likely to get into view, but to be honest, you could use pretty much any smartphone gimbal and hold it at a tilted angle rather than straight upwards. That's what I do with my Zhiyun Smooth 4 and the roll axis motor rarely gets into shot. Only when I'm not concentrating!

I use a zhiyun smooth 4 too, and found it to be the better of most gimbals, likewise when it comes to the super wide camera, I just hold it in a different manner, known as "torch mode" as if you were holding a torch, this means nothing is in the viewfinder.

Could you please elaborate on torch mode?

It's not a mode of the gimbal. It's just the way you hold it, as you would hold a torch. I tend to hold it at a 45 degree angle.

Holding it like a torch...

DJI call it flashlight mode, it's just a way of holding it.030146sraust5azvoahjjs.png
