Can you enable USB Debugging if screen is black and locked?
I need to safe my phone data after the apparently IP Rated XPERIA 1 got water damage via top speaker.
So now my screen go black and unresponsive after it is booted into Android.
When a device is wet, switch it off, pull out the SD/SIM tray and submerge the device in a bowl with rice.
Wait a few days and try again.
Here is wisdom to be applied beforehand.
Not the answer to my question?
But let me correct you,
When a devise is wet
Only when you can't immediately open the phone you can open the sim tray putting the phone in a sealed bag with Silica Gel is 80% better than rice.
But this will not stop the oxidation that is now attacking the exposed copper and if left as is, it will only take a while before irreversible damage take place.
The correct method is to open the phone as quickly as possible, use electrical cleaner and a anti static brush (tooth brush will also suffice) and clean all plugs and visible oxidized (normally white powder) on metals , using a decent camera or magnifier to inspect, since this is not visible to the eye in most cases if quick action were taken.
PS! I used silica gel first since I did not have the tools and electrical cleaner and could only clean the phone 3 days later after it got wet, by then then the phone were dry on the inside but still did the same, boot, display Sony, then Android, then Xperia and when "in" the screen go black, finger print works, but phone require manual pin entry after a start or reboot which I can't enter since screen is black and unresponsive.
A USB data cable require to be logged in and accept data transfer, which I also can't do.
So I require to enable usb debugging or safe mode from buttons?
Hello @XPERIA_1_Dual,
you could use an OTG cable and any USB keyboard to enter the code.
How to proceed from there - good question. Maybe there is a keyboard button command which opens up certain settings and may allow for USB debugging to be activated.

Hi @IamNic
Thank you, I have tried the keyboard option, it un-fortunately does not work.
Pressing the Windows key then enter pin, or pressing enter twice then pin and enter, tried a few combinations.
Then I unplug and put data cable and XPERIA Companion still show "Unlock required".
I have also plugged in an HDMI, the monitor simply repeat the screen and aslo go black after "On"
I tried with a splitter (HDMI + Keyboard), same.
Seems phone is on, PC can see phone and recognize J9110 etc, but I just can't access the data, phone is not frozen since finger print vibrate every time.
Were hoping XPERIA Companion could ask for pin on PC, then I could enter on PC and proceed.
I tried DR Fone, but it is not compatible with SONY although it does pickup the phone, but require USB Debugging to be switched On.
