xperia 1 iv no sim service Australia
since November 2014 my as new xperia I iv has been disconnected on boost Australia service.
Telstra say phone is not compatible as it doesn't have 4g VoLTE.
but I remember I had full 5g before it went off.
so I can't understand their reasoning.
anyone else have the same problem?

@exsanguinator based on the specs of your phone it does support the 5G band: https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/mobile-phones-tablets-mobile-phones/xperia-1-iv-256gb/spe...

yes I know because I saw the 5g icon when It was working before 3g shutdown.
I was referring to the 4g VoLTE capability of this phone.
Telstra told me this phone uses 3g for emergency calling,so not compatible with Australia now after 31 October 2024 3g shutdown.
they have since blocked my IMEI so my sim shows no Sim service on this phone, but works in any other phone perfectly showing VoLTE.
anyone else having an issue in Australia?
traveler's? your phone working on holiday here?

@exsanguinator I think the phone will not function normally outside the region of purchase! But I'd say contact the network operator for a better solution.

so you're saying travellers must leave their phones at home nowdays?
or if you immigrate, you need to factor in a new premium phone?
How about Sony just includes the extra mbn files in their softwares?
Or update their software repair program to recognise the country you're in from your IP address and update software accordingly.
