Netflix notworking on Xperia 5

Cannot connect to Netflix. Getting error "-1001".
Since Netflix is bundled I cannot uninstall the app, only uninstall updates. When doing so, I get version 1.0.0
Then I clear the cache and update the upp through Play Store, and get the same error again.

What do to now? Netlfix app worked on my previous phone, XZ1.

@swePeso

This was indeed an issue with the Xperia 1 but since this is a third party app it'll be up to netflix to address

Hi @swePeso, sorry to hear about this.

As @uliwooly mentioned, this error code seems to be coming from the Netflix service and not from the phone itself. Try the troubleshooting mentioned in the link that @uliwooly posted, if that do not work, the best thing to do is to get in contact with Netflix support for further instructions and troubleshooting.

I hope that helped a little bit!

Are you trying to access Netflix via Wlan at work or university?

Sony, could we have a news answer about it ? Because Netflix say me that they can't do anything for me...

Try to reinstall the apps , my netflix in HK is working fine. So that might be a local area apps problem.

I've got the same problem with Xperia XZ3 from the moment I got the phone (October 2018) and it's still not solved:

Advise from Netflix is to uninstall and reinstall again. Problem is, that on my phone, the app is pre-installed and cannot be uninstalled - even in developer mode. They tried to install a different app version of Netflix on my phone - but that's not working neither, since the original version is still there (and again: can't be uninstalled).

Advice from SONY is to wait. Since they are not hearing enough complaint, they won't fix it. Apparently  it works on most phones just fine.

Sony's customer service has gone to the dogs now, worse than Motorola's.

They will never acknowledge any problem on their mobile phones
