When trying to set a picture as sticker in the Always On Display settings, an error is reported: "Error. Cannot load media." This problem has been reported on earlier models like the Xperia 1ii. It seems to be related to the Google Photos app.The workaround to remove all updates of the Google Photos app does not work anymore.
On my Xperia 1 it works fine, but of course the Sony Gallery app is still available there.
Can this bug please be solved?
Solved! Go to Solution.
If someone with an Xperia 5iii can confirm that it is possible for him/her to upload an image for the always on display on their device, then I would consider to perform a software repair. Until then, I guess I'll do without it.
Hi Rduppen,
I also own a Xperia 5 iii (Software Version 61.0.A.15.45) and just went trough the steps to set up a foto (taken by the device's camea) for the always on display.
It worked as intended and I finally saw that picture in the always on display. I didn't try any other pictures though.
Can confirm this seems to be an issue with Xperia 1iii too.
Hopefully the .45 update fixes it on this too.
That error is slightly different from what I had.
Perhaps your Google Photos app is disabled?
Ahh, yes. Could well be that then .
Installed Sony gallery so I must've nuked Google photos at the time
