FDR-X3000 not charging

Hi,

My camera is basically brand new. I've charged it a couple of times and only really used it once. The battery goes flat on its own for some reason very fast when not in use so I decided to charge it up should I decide to use it,

Upon connecting the microUSB to a plug a sequence of events happens:

-the orange light on the camera comes on

-camera beeps as orange light goes off

-camera symbol appears in bottom left corner of screen

-symbol goes off and an empty battery sign appears in the middle of screen

-camera beeps again as screen clears

-sequence starts again on repeat

If I plug it to my laptop it repeatedly makes the USB plugged it/removed noise.

So of course it is not getting any charge at all. The cable is brand new and has just been sat here with no possible damage. What is the issue?

Hi there Kristmas,

first I would verify, if you entered the battery the right way round. You can force it in the wrong way and then it won't be able to get charged.

On the original battery, the side with the "arrow" has to face away from you like shown here:

Though from your explanation, it does sound, like the camera is broken 😞

Also the fast drainage, when it was still working could have been due to you having bluetooth enabled on the camera, which will always drain a small amount of power while awaiting the "switch on" or "record" command from the LVR3 remote.

If you switch Bluetooth off, the camera can be in standby for weeks without it draining at all.
