A6500 - Release lag with pop up flash in manual mode
Hi
I have problems with release lag when shooting in manual mode with pop-up flash with my Sony A6500.
It takes a second from egen I press the shutter button until the flash triggers and the picture is taken.
Focus is already locked, so it shouldn't be about finding focus.
But! If I choose Auto mode on the camera, the picture is taken immediately.
- Red-eye is off.
- no difference in shutter speeds and iso-numbers.
- Same effect on two different lenses.
- no difference whether it is fill flash or slow sync.
I am shooting macro under water, with such a delay it is almost impossible. Another flash is not an option.
Grateful for help.

Hi @Akronaut, welcome to the community.
I'm not sure the a6500 built-in flash is a good option for underwater photography – or at least, the housing you use may have an adverse effect on its performance. Of the housing manufacturers I checked, a couple simply say it's 'unsuitable' and point to available external flash options.
Could there be something in this, d'you suppose?
