In view of the weight of the Sony 24-70mm f2.8 GM lens, coupled to a lightweight Sony a7rm2 Camera, would Sony think that a suitable Tripod Mount Ring should be available for this combination. Namely (a), to reduce the strain on the the camera to lens mount, and (b), to reduce strain on the camera to tripod mount point. The only thing that may be in the way is the AF/MF switch on the lens, which could probably be overridden in the camera settings, and should not be an insurmountable problem, given the Mount Ring configurations on the Sony 70- 200/-300 and so on.
Your reply would be most welcome.

Hi Benjo,
I found a list of all the compatible tripods compatible with your camera, I think you should check it out: http://support.d-imaging.sony.co.jp/www/cscs/accessories/compatibility.php?area=gb&lang=en&mdl=ILCE-...

Thank you for taking the time to reply to me. I am not looking for a tripod, as I already have a sturdy one. What I am looking for is a Mount Ring, as seen on Tele lenses, whereby it is the lens that mounts to the tripod, not the camera, as on the Sony 70-200mm, 70-300mm, etc., thereby giving the camera/lens some ballance, and releiving stress on the camera, as per my original post.
Many thanks.
Hi Benjo,
Judging by the way Sony design Telephoto lenses (the supporting ring is built in), I don't think such an accessory is necessary for your lens. This is supported by the fact that Sony don't actually make them or hint that they are recommended.
