I have paired the Sony Alpha 1 to the Remote Commander, and checked that the message on the camera does show that they are paired. However, when pressing any button on the Remote Commander all that happens is that the red light on the Remote Commander flashes. I think this means that there is a problem, but I do not know what it is.
Smartphone Connection is Off, and I have deleted the Imaging Edge Mobile from my phone as that was paired with the camera, and there did not seem any way to unpair it.
I have again gone through the pairing process after deleting Imaging Edge and the camera said that pairing was successful, but still I cannot control the camera from the Commander.
It does not matter what buttons I press on the Commander, all I get is the flashing red light.
Has anybody any advice please, as I cannot work out what I need to do.

Updating the camera firmware and removing the Imaging Editor app from my phone made no difference. I also changed Smartphone Connection to Off, made sure Bluetooth Function was On. I think it was one of these changes which allowed the Commander to control my camera. Problem solved.
Thanks a lot for taking the time to share your findings and solution!
