Sony a5100 lens recognition

Hi, I have a Sony a5100 camera and I recently tried to use it but there has been an error message saying "Cannot recognize lens. Attach it properly." I have tried cleaning the gold metal parts where the connectors are and they are not damaged. I have no other lens to try with the camera but I have no idea why it is not working. I am very disappointed because it was working perfectly fine not long ago and found that many cameras from Sony have this problem as well. Please help!! I have tried other methods online and none have worked.

is it a lens, which came with the camera, or a third party lens?

If it is a third party lens, you can activate the option to take photos without lens attached (normally used to take a look at the internals) to take photos.
