Wireless Flash for a850 and a77

Hi,

I have an a850, a77 and HVL-F58AM flash unit.  I am looking to moving into the wireless flash side of things to give me more flexability but I do not know what to purchase to make this happen.  Would I be right in thinking that the HVL-F42AM or HVL-F36AM would support both cameras and work with the HVL-F58AM?

Kind regards

Si

Hello Si, welcome to the Sony Forums

There's no compatibility issue with those flash units and either camera: http://esupport.sony.com/CA/perl/support-info.pl?template=&info_id=634

The F58 would be fine as controller for both F36 and F42.

Hope that's of some help

Mick

Just to add that if you use the a77 popup flash as a wireless controller, it will be fine for the first 15 shots but then the flash hangs and can only then trigger once every 10 seconds or so.  When the camera goes into powersave briefly , the hang is removed and you can carry on.  Hopefully this is a software bug that can be remedied.

Using the f58 as the controller, mounted on the a77 there is no such problem.

Cheers
