A80J Alexa Control

does anyone know how to get the Alexa app working on an A80J? Followed all the instructions but my Alexa still can’t  find the TV

Resolved it, thanks. Although I had turned the tv on and off multiple time it turns out there is a reset TV option, and that did the trick. I was initially worried to press it in case it reset all my settings but apparently it didn’t

thanks for your help

Hello @neplumr,

the setup (at least for me on the LED "brother" X80J) - link the TV to the cloud (following the instructions on the TV) - then I had to activate a skill in Alexa and then I was done.

Where exactly do you struggle?

I’ve registered all the accounts its asked me to register, set up the skill in the amazon app,  but the echo doesn’t find the tv and on the tv itself i select the app, say yes to all the legal gubbins, pick my account and then the app seems to crash, and just go straight back to the apps screen.

And this happens every time you try to issue a command? Or are you unable to test one in the first place?

Cant get as far as issuing commands. It seems nothing is linking. The app crashes before it links to the echo and the skill in the Amazon app doesn’t see the TV.

i assume they connect using Bluetooth so I made sure Bluetooth was working ok by connecting some headphones, and that worked fine. I also manually connected the Echo using Bluetooth and that worked, although obviously it then just sees the echo as a speaker not a control device.

Have you tried restarting the TV, echo and router and all of the basic connectivity troubleshooting already?

Yep, tried all the usual. I’ve also gone into the app settings on the tv and cleared the Cache. The one thing I haven’t done is pick the option on the app settings that says “delete all data”. I know you can re-download the echo control apps so I didn’t want to pick the delete data option in case it wipes out the actual app.

Hello @neplumr,

glad it is working now.

Just for your information, the Alexa DOES NOT connect to the TV via Bluetooth.

You say the command to the alexa, it connects to its cloud, uses the skill to connect to Sonys server, which then connects to the TV and triggers the command.
