Built In WiFi problem

Built In WiFi problem

I have a Sony Bravia 55xe8396b TV bought just over a year ago and suddenly seem to be having a major issue with the WiFi on it.

Since getting the TV  we've had multiple occasions where the WiFi has dropped and we've been unable to reconnect at the time, however usually a few days later the issue has sorted itself and we've been able to continue as usual. About 4 months ago, I reset the internet connection with the TV to the WPS setting and since then we've had no problems at all.

Until Thursday, I went to watch Netflix and got a message to say the TV wasn't connected to the internet. When I went back to the home screen and to the settings, I noticed the WiFi button was in the off position. I tried to turn it back on but it keeps flicking straight back to the off position.

I'm now in the process of factory resetting the TV to see if that helps, but for a TV a little over a year old, we didn't anticipate having these problems. A quick google search shows that a lot of people have issues with the internet connection on Sony TVs, so I think this might be our last one if we can't rectify the issue.

Has anyone else had this same issue or something similar? I'm not sure what else to try!

Thank you Manolo!

Restarting is an instant solution. However I would still consider this issue as an open one, because it occurs more and more often in my case. At first there were some weeks between the occurences, but nowadasy the issue occurs many times a day! It is very annoying. If somewone could discover the root cause and advice a permanent solution, it would make me happy.

Thanks,

Laszlo

Hi lmoczar,

What is the exact model of the TV? Also, what is the current software version of the TV as well? You can find it by pressing help - then select system information.

Hi guys,

I suffer the same exact issue with my sony TV (XBR-49X705D).

So I did the following on my tv set:

Open settings (gear icon) --> "internet & network" --> "home network configuration" --> "renderer" --> disable it.

In my case, that feature was enabled by default (it suppose to share photos and pictures between different devices).

After that, no more WIFI dropouts (three days in a row and counting)!

Hi,

I’ve been having the same issue with the

Kd-49xg8096 that I‘ve had for a few years now. I’ve tried to hard restart it and reset it and I keep having the same problem. Is there anything you would suggest?

It's been ages since this started.  Now won't connect to WiFi no matter what. TV is 7 Yr old so guess cantt  bother Sony. Got a Chromecast with Google TV dongle and all sorted. No Sony Android bothers anymore. Learned my lesson won't buy another Sony Android TV. Just non smart TV with google tv dongle will do going forward.

I have the same TV I believe. I bought it in 2020, for somewhere to the sound of $1500. It has been an absolute piece of junk since the first month I bought it. I wish I would’ve returned it when I had the chance. But it was all mounted and I figured the kinks would work themselves out with updates. Nope.
it constantly crashes while watching hockey on Sportsnet, like I mean every commercial break it’ll freeze at the end of the commercial.

Netflix will randomly crash and crave or prime will open launch??

and the wifi, constantly reconnecting and re signing in to the wifi!!!! I’ve never hated a tv so much in my life. Flick it back on, and it immediately shuts itself back off all over again. It’s so frustrating.
anyways, I’m having the exact issue you’re having at the moment, and I have restarted in three times now, done a power cycle on the tv, the modem/router multiple times, and still… nothing.
