Customise TV button

Hi,

New owner of a 49XF9005 and starting to get to grips with the Android OS.

As I live in a valley and only have a satellite feed, with which I prefer the channels to be in Freesat order, I’m reusing my satelille receiver, connected to HDMI 2.

I would like the TV button on the remote to switch to HDMI 2 and I read that under the external input settings their should be a Customise TV key option.. however my settings doesn’t show this. It’s not there. Has this option been removed?

Thank you.

Hi @mapierc23

It should be Home -> Settings-> External inputs -> Customise TV key. I have mine set to HDMI 2.

Hi mapierc23,

I guess a soft reset might resolve the issue. You shall press and hold the green power button on the remote control until the TV shows "Power off - Shutting down" .

Also, you can update the TV if needed to the latest software using this link: https://bit.ly/2mEgPSI.

Hope this helps.

Hi @mapierc23,

As I understand it, if YouView is enabled the TV button will not be able to be customized. Instead pressing the TV button will default back to a preset function. Can’t recall what function in specific at this moment.

Probably one of our YouView Super Users could be beter suited to confirm this for us.

Cheers,

Dutchice

There’s only one of me :clown:

And I gave my Android TV to Number One Son in the end, and bought a Samsung instead, so I have to pop round to his if I need to check anything.

He uses it in conjunction with a Sky box, which I think is a match made in heaven; it plays to the strengths of these sets, notably the unrivalled picture quality, and avoids the weaknesses, including the clunky and buggy Android interface, the satellite implementation that isn’t Freesat, the incomplete YouView implementation, and so on.

I can confirm what @dutchice says, though, @mapierc23; you need to come out of the YouView UI (instructions are in the FAQ at the top of the forum) before you can change the setting which controls what the TV button defaults to.

Which, in the YouView UI, is terrestrial TV, perhaps not surprisingly

I do recall that the setting is where @dutchice describes, though I also recall that it was still present there when you were in YouView, but just greyed out. Maybe that has changed now, though - YouView are very keen that you don’t change this setting when in YouView - and it is perhaps now not present unless you can change it.

Number One Son has this set to default to HDMI 1, where the Sky box is, though the Sky box usually grabs the TV automatically, via CEC.

Exit YouView and then look for the setting where @dutchice said, anyway.

YouView Superuser, but not an employee of YouView, nor retained by them for this purpose. It's purely me speaking

I also have an XF9005 here which obviously isn't YouView enabled... Can't customize the TV button either.

Hmm.. well I seem to have the latest firmware, YouView has never been set up as I don’t have an aerial and it shows as not enabled in the settings. Reboot done and still no option. 😞

I don’t use YouView abs the setting isn’t there. I did try and set YouView up though so perhaps the Tv is now in an odd state.

I’m found to do a factory reset to try and resolve another issue so hopefully that restores it.
