FAQ's on this Forum

Hello All

This list is designed to answer some of the most frequently asked questions on this forum.  If you have a specific issue with your TV, please have a look at the bugs and issues list HERE.

General FAQs:

  1. Problems with a device connected via HDMI - see HERE
  2. 'Freesat' EPG showing "No event Information"
    Spoiler
    Answer:
Unfortunately, Sony TVs are sold as Freeview only and not Freesat.   Even though the TVs have the required Satellite connections, this does not make them 'Freesat' TVs.  Freesat is the brand name behind the free-to-air satellite EPG (Guide).  Therefore only a basic EPG is provided which displays the information of the current program on now and the next program afterwards.

More information about Freesat can be found:
    http://www.freesat.co.uk/

  3. 2016 WD60, WD65 and WD75 model TVs - Where is the browser?
    Spoiler
    Answer:
Unfortunately Sony has not included a Web-browser in these model TVs.  Also, you cannot install one either.  Only the Apps already on the TV and/or in the Opera TV Store can be used.

  4. Can I connect Bluetooth Headphones or Speakers to my TV?
    Spoiler
    Answer:
Only the following 2017 model TVs will support BT headphones and speakers (upon updating the Android 7.0 - Nougat).  A1E, XE94, XE93, XE90 and XE85.  For a full list of models, see HERE

Unfortunately all other Sony TVs do not support the required Bluetooth profile in order to send audio to another device such as headphones or speakers.  However if you purchase a separate 'Bluetooth Transmitter' that connects to the TVs headphone/audio-out socket, then this may be possible.

A couple of suggested Bluetooth Transmitters are:

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/Aukey-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Technology-BT-C1/dp/B00PI6EEVW/

    Please note: Nothing is guaranteed.

  5. Where is ITV Player and All4 Catchup Apps?
    Spoiler
    Answer:
The catchup apps of ITV Player and All4 are only available on Sony Android TVs with YouView enabled.  Unfortunately these two apps cannot be installed on other TVs and there are currently no plans to add them.

    Work-around:
You could purchase another device such as a NowTV box rather cheaply, which will connect to your TV via a HDMI cable and will give you access to those catchup apps as well as a host of others.  See: http://www.nowtv.com/tv-boxes

  6. How do I Screen-Mirror iPhones/iPads to my TV?
    Spoiler
    Answer:
For Non-Android based TVs, unfortuately you cannot screen-mirror your Apple iPhone or iPad to Sony TVs without another device such as 'Apple TV'.  This is because Sony uses a technology called Miracast, where-as Apple use Airplay instead.  The two technologies are not compatible with one another.

  7. Can I install other apps thats not on the TV?
    Spoiler
    Answer:
For Non-Android based TVs, only the apps that are currently installed or available in the Opera TV store can be used.  You cannot install other apps.

    For Android based TVs:
