Is it possible to run the Google Home app on a Sony AF9? I can’t seem to see a version in Play Store when accessing it from the TV.
my wife would like to have the ability for notifications from the security cameras to come up on the screen as she doesn’t tend to have phone or tablet with her when watching TV.
can find lots of articles, posts etc about controlling the TV from Google Home but nothing about the possibility of running it on the TV.
Unfortunately, it's not possible to run the Google Home app directly on the Sony AF9 TV, as it doesn't have an Android operating system
I think you can use Chromecast or another streaming device that supports Google Home, and connect it to your TV. This will allow you to cast the notifications from your security cameras onto the TV screen. Another option is to use a smart home hub, like a Google Nest Hub or Amazon Echo Show, which has a built-in screen and can display notifications from your security cameras. If you're looking for a physical security system, you might want to check out https://ohholding.com.ua/en/fizicheskaya-okhrana/telohranitel - they have a wide range of options for home security, including cameras and alarms.
I don't think it will be compatible as your TV is running Android OS, and you want Google home! And that might sound silly, but they're distinctly different actually, so it's less of a software limitation and more of a hardware one actually.

I’m sorry? The AF9 runs on Android. And, anyway, there are versions of Google Home available for multiple OS not just Android.

Yes it does sound silly as there are versions of Google home available for multiple different operating systems including Android. And as an app it is lower overhead than typical streaming apps because if the far lower bandwidths involved,

Thanks. I will have look but was trying to avoid yet another device when just sitting in the lounge watching the TV. And the AF9 has inbuilt Chromecast so have never bothered with getting one. I coukd just take my iOad into the lounge with me and get that type of functionality.
What is bizarre is that the old Nest app is available on the Play Store via the TV. But that app doesn’t support the newer model cameras. Despite the fact that they stream via the same servers at the Google end.
I know what you're talking about, but it means that you want to completely modify the TV software which you cannot do in an official way. And the risks for it is kinda high, so I don't think it's worth it honestly.
