Dear Sony,
My whole family are true Sony supporters of all your products. We are all huge fans on the Sony Playstation and are so excited about the PS5 this Christmas. When I heard you were following the footsteps of LG and purchasing their 48" panels to produce your very own Sony 48" OLED TV. I was so excited.
I received your update email and heard through all the gadget sites I follow that your starting to take pre-orders for the end of August, which is perfect as my birthday is the 27th August. I then looked through the specs and heard from the pre-reviews that there is no hdmi 2.1. This is very disappointing as I was assuming you would have placed this hardware ready for the PS5. I know you have the LED screen with HDMI 2.1 but unfortunately I prefer OLED. I guess I will have to wait until 2021 for a new version with HDMI 2.1 to achieve the best results and so it's future proof. I thought you guys would have made this move as now LG with their OLED48CX6LB could really steal a lot of sales from you guys this Christmas.
One thing me and my dad have noticed over the many years purchasing your products is the fact you always miss important features or purposely not place these on and then a newer, better, improved, version is released. I know this is business but LG always put everything into their products from the start. The TV interface that LG is absolutely amazing and I've always thought why did sony choose google android when they could produce their own amazing interface like LG.
Like many customers I will stay loyal to your brand which is very rare these days, I wish the community had more say when you produce new products.
I look forward to your response.
Kind Regards,
QBEES2
And which are the HDMI 2.1 features you fear to missing out from a next console generation? 4k@120fps games are nowhere to be seen, VRR on a 120hz panel adds up not the much especially if not combined with freesync premium for legacy 30fps games, ALLM...ok you have to switch to custom mode if you want to see a movie onto the console (btw tha playstation is able to switch a Sony tv anyway). If you appreciate OLED (and Sony ones particularly), i would not mind about HDMI 2.1 (ok I must admit I'm not a gamer so I don't need it at all, but having read what you can do with those spec, it seems quite nothing unless you have a PC with a top HDMI 2.1 video card, if it exists yet). BTW LG also cut some features on 2020 lineup (bandwith) because the TV makes no use of it
Hi @QBEES2
I’m afraid you will not get a response from SONY (if that is what you were expecting) as this is a customer community and not SONY customer services. For that you need to contact Sony UK Support
