KD55A8 recording to hard disc

I cannot record to a Seagate expansion 1 tb external hard drive via the usb hdd port.I have followed the set up instructions and the test says everything is ok, When I press the record button a message tells me that recording is unavailable,despite the manual saying that it is.

Any ideas anyone.
