KE-48A9 recording failure effects

I have a 1TB SSD that recorder registers as 931gb free

There is nothing in my recording list

there is nothing in the reminder list

there is 0 recordings

the tv records a random channel every day @ 19:47 ending 20:47

the recording errors and produces 20 + entries in the recording error list

these errors cannot be deleted (attempt produces an error)

when this occurs the digital channels fail

they cannot be changed via any means ( choices from epg or up down remote select)

prior to this time ( I assume on change of day) they work fine from you view or free view guides

I have factory reset tv to no change

i have deregisted and re registered hdd to no effect

any ideas from the hive minds on this?

@Renrut

I would disconnect the Bluetooth device anyway, while resetting.

What use would it have during a reset?

And while the device might not affect anything, the TV may detect that the optical out appears to be in use, or some other strange thing, so make the TV absolutely ‘clean’. No connections to it at all, apart from mains.

My favourite bedtime reading is a Sony product manual…

Besides the TV factory reset, and besides resetting the HDD on the TV.
Have you formatted the HDD on a PC/Laptop? If no, try it.
If yes and issue persists, then yea you need to follow up with Sony at this point.

Finally given up on trying to use the recording app so de-registered hdd removed it and did factory reset but problem persists

I’m going to raise it with Sony

The retailer washed there hands of the problem and also the warranty company “we just fix hardware- sorry”

so I’m playing the pass the problem game now.

update

tonight at 19:47 TV changed to channel 39 (DMAX) by itself and no other channels could be selected so the problem persists.

i tried the idea I had of going through the system apps and services forcing them to stop one by one to see what effect they had.
As far as I could see = nothing narda nowt zilch.

so 1 factory restart later.
The error listing on the recording app persisted through the reset - how?
Pic attachment shows that

If you come out of the Recording Error List and go to Recording Timer List

are there any entries in there and if there are can you click right to the 'trash can' icon and delete the 'event'.

Or have a look in your TV guide to see if there is a pink clock icon in the guide for a programme on DMAX at the

time the recording is set. (this will only show if your TV guide is set for TV (Freeview TV) rather than Live TV and Catch Up (YouView)).

From your recording list you can see the errors change when you have performed the factory reset, where it states the error was due to 'power down'.

Thanks for the thoughts dave

i have nothing in the recorder app recording list or reminder list.  The errors cannot be deleted and change daily to the current day but stay consistent in there quantity and message.

there are now “pink” recording indicators for that channel at the 19:47 point or before or after.

once again I’m flumexed

I need to escalate this with Sony before guarantee runs out in October- it will no doubt take that long

thanks again for the input 👍

I'm surprised you cannot delete/ clear the errors from the list. What happens when you try.

I was thinking perhaps parental controls had been set and this was preventing you from deleting the errors, but I guess you would have been asked for a PIN code, and you haven't mentioned that.

If you go back in to the TV Guide go to DMAX and to the next set recording with the pink clock icon.

Press OK on the Remote, this should open a Programme Information page, on the right hand side you should

see Modify Timer.

Click on Modify Timer, the next page will show Delete Timer As Series, press.

You will be asked to confirm Delete.

The TV guide should reopen and the pink clock icon should have now disappeared.

Can you confirm this.

Now we will have to see if the TV tries to record at that time again.

Let us know what happens at 19:47 on your telly.

Further

breaking news….

I had a thought- why not delete the channel the stupid recorder app switched to automatically at the 19:47 point. (Dmax channel on free view)

And BINGO cured,  the the tv has for the past 4 days been able to receive digital content without the blank screen annoyance or ghost messages about “feature not available while recording messages”.

I am loath to retry installing a HDD again and trying the recording app though 😱 with the thought of the havoc it brought the first time.

so thanks for all the suggestions and advice folks it’s much appreciated 👍
