Using the Sony XH95 TV there is a popup every time you change settings up or down asking the user to confirm with a message saying it could change the power consumption above normal levels. I understand this is related to an EU regulation, however the UI design it unnecessarily intrusive. Has anyone heard whether Sony will change this?
It's ruining my experience of the TV so much I'm considering factory resetting it and not installing the firmware updates that introduced it.
Hi @ryan__ I sorry to say that a factory reset simply reloads the last firmware update and initialises the settings. It does not return it to a previous release or as bought.
@LightFoot Thanks for letting me know, if that is the case a factory reset won't change the firmware then it sounds like it won't fix the issue.
It certainly won’t.
This is Sony’s interpretation of an EU regulation, which they have applied to all UK sets, claiming they can’t differentiate them from EU models (Hello Sony, add ‘IF YOUVIEW THEN NOT EU’ to your code), and the application is wildly different, and wildly more intrusive and annoying, than anything any other manufacturer has done to meet these regulations.
Your best hope is that Sony have a rethink, and revise this code in an upcoming update.
Hi ryan__ there are many threads for this specific issue. I'm sorry to tell you but this won't change as royabrown2 said. Try contacting Sony and ask to deliver a feedback to the engineers, maybe one day they will listen...
