Reparare LCD TV Sony KD65XF9005 in afara garantiei

Buna ziua,

Tocmai am aflat ca Sony nu repara LCD-uri defecte (banda neagra verticala care s-a extins la aproape 3 cm)  in afara garantiei, motiv pentru care a propus sa-mi cumpar un televizor nou. Pret televizor vechi 6500 lei in 2018. Pret televizor nou 5991 lei.

As fi recunoscator pentru orice sugestie despre ***** as putea rezolva. Pentru moment am depus o reclamatie la protectia consumatorului.

Va multumesc,

Also in english:

The LCD of my Sony TV model KD65XF9005 become defective (black 2 cm vertical line) after 30 months since I purchased.. TV is out of warranty. Sony proposed me to buy a new one almost on same price (around 1400 EUR). They stated their policy is to not repair LCD but to change the device.

What do you think about this approach

Is it normal that  that the top of the range from Sony in 2018 to last 30 months (less than 10,000 operating hours), when Sony in its ads says that the heavy duty operation is 4 years minimum or 40,000 operating hours and the lifetime according to the warranty is 3 years

Do you think there is no possibility of repair outside the warranty? I mean, I'm throwing over 6,000 lei on the window.

I would be grateful for any suggestions about how I could solve this issue. For the moment, I have filed a complaint with the consumer protection.

Unfortunately, the display panel is one of -if not THE- most expensive part of a TV aside from the main motherboard internally.

So the fact that they replace it as un-repairable makes sense to me, though I'd probably repurpose the TV for the bedroom for example and buy another (if I can).

Hope this helps!

Hi

Thank you for reply

I cannot argue that the lcd is the most expensive part

But without any check from a specialist how to make difference between bad luck an the fact that the panel had a hidden defect from the factory which appeared after 2.5 years

If hidden defect Sony must repair during the lifetime of the tv which is 3 years as per Sony warranty paper (as per Romania law)

Regarding moving tv to another role the issue is that in 2 weeks the black line increased from 2 mm to 4 cm so I expect will continue to grow

I'm not sure about Romania law to be honest, but Sony offers a replacement instead of repair when there's an issue with a display due to a defect since it can't be repaired, but that is all up to an engineer who takes a look at pictures you send; so won't always necessarily mean a replacement is necessary.

That said, most of the issues I've seen when it comes to the display are usually pretty early on, usually within the first couple of months or so, but I'm by no means an expert so I can't say this for sure.

Hope this helps!

Hi

As you stated the screen is the most expensive part of tv and if become defective tv must be replaced

So if your tv is out of warranty you must just purchase a new tv

This means as a customer I have zero protection if screen is broken

Due to this how can anybody assume the risk and purchase a very expensive high class tv if no protection

2-3 years is very small period of waranty even extended if you invest high amount of money in a tv

My view is that screen nust have higher warranty at least 5 years

As example for refrigerators an washing machines the invertor has 10 years warranty

If not all the risk is with customer and all the profit with the vendor

I can't say I disagree with your sentiment, but most warranties don't even cover the display with physical damage for example.

So if it's not defective, still within warranty, but let's say a child throws a toy at it, that means you're out of a TV.

This is essentially why insurance exists. Not that I like this fact, but it's just how things seem to work these days.

Hi, can I ask how much do they charge to exchange the TV for you? Thank you.
