Wireless headphones with my 8 year old Bravia sound!,,

When my headphones are connected the sound goes from the TV ! How can this be rectified so I can have my headphones on and my partner can also have the sound from the TV.

Presumably you want to do this because your headphones have better sound than the TV. But on every TV I have ever owned (I'm 70, so I've owned a lot of TVs), the speakers have automatically cut out when the headphones are plugged in. Is it even possible for any TV to behave otherwise?

Hi lynneeb,

Unfortunately you didn't specify a TV model.

Anyway, please check for an option called "Headphone Speaker Link" in the sound settings.

If this option is available on your TV you can output the sound from speakers and headphones.

Cheers

Peter

@lynneeb

If the TV doesn’t have this setting, another approach would be to run the headphones off an adapter that runs from an alternative output, most usually optical out, and possibly a Bluetooth adapter, rather than just to a wired headphone output,

Bluetooth is good, if you don’t mind getting new Bluetooth headphones, as you can set the headphones volume separately from the TV speakers volume, often necessary when one listener needs it louder than is comfortable for the other, and also because it frees you from trailing wires.

It has to be a Bluetooth adapter from optical though, as direct Bluetooth even on current Sony sets, let alone 2012 ones, doesn’t provide the standard needed, and the sound tends to lag the picture - not what you want.

Hi

The KD-49XH8096  is a 2020 model. are you using an external audio system that's old or is the model number not accurate?
