Sony Xperia C3 External USB storage disabled

Hi all,

I bought a dual flash drive from transcend (32g) to seamlessly share files from my computer and phone. The micro USB FLASHDRIVE is supposedly plug and play, but nothing happens when I plug it on my phone. Plus the option to mount external usb storage on settings is also greyed out.

Please help.

P.S. My phone is not rooted by the way.

It could be a compatibility issue. Have you tried using the flash drive with another device?

Thanks!

I don't own any other android device. I tried it on computers and it works fine. How would I know if the USB dual flashdrive is incompatible/damaged or if the phone itself does not cater to this option? Is there an app that can help me?

I've tried the OTG troubleshooter. And when I plug is the flashdrive, it recognizes it. But the option is still greyed out on the phone's setting: Mount External USB storage.

I hope someone could explain this futher.

Many thanks!

That seems to be a compatibility issue with your phone, there isn't a way to test it, other than buying a different low voltage flash drive.

Oh, that kinda **bleep**.

I hope someone from Sony can read this and verify these info as well. I just need to be certain that the phone itself ssupports otg flashdrives (dual micro USB) before I purchase a new one with a smaller size.

But if it really doesn't, then there shouldn't be an option on the settings for storage about mounting an external USB storage.

Thanks everyone.
