Getting videos from my camcorder onto my computer

Hello

I'm wondering if anyone knows how to get videos from my camcorder onto my computer, my camcorder is a DCR-HC19E and I have windows 7.

I have downloaded the latest update of picture package but when I plug my camcorder into my computer using the i.Link my computer says that there isn't a driver successfully installed,

any ideas as to what I do now?

Many Thanks Lucy

Hi Lucy and welcome to the Sony Users Community.

Unfortunately, Picture Package is not compatible with Windows Vista and Windows 7 & 8.

I would use the free Microsoft Movie Maker software - this may already be installed on your computer as part of Windows 7 but if it is not, you can download it free from Microsoft here: -

  1. Connect an i.LINK®cable (also known as IEEE-1394) to the i.LINK port on the digital camcorder.
  2. Connect the other end of the i.LINK® cable to the computer.
  3. Turn on the digital camcorder by moving the POWER switch to the VTR position.
  4. Cue the camcorder to the beginning of the video.
  5. Turn on the computer.
  6. Start the video capture software on the computer.
  7. Begin playing the recorded video in the camcorder.
  8. Begin importing the video with the capture software.

Good Luck!
