iMovie unable to detect or import Sony DCR-SR58 content

Hi, I can't seem to find any support from the iMovie/apple perspective, so hopefully you guys may be able to help.

I have a Sony DCR-SR58 camcorder which when connected to my Windows machine, or my Mac mini, will allow programs to load content from it perfectly well.

However, when connected to our iMac, iMovie cannot detect or import the content - despite it being visible (though inaccessible) in the finder.

Anybody had a similar issue? Any tips to resolve this frustration?

Hello Evans007 - Welcome to the Sony Forums

First of all, can I just check that you are following all of the information in the video transfer guide that Sony has published online? This is available at:

http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/topics/videotransfer

There is a specific section for Apple Mac computers.

Failing that, if you are still having problems, it may have something to do with the version of iMovie or the version of the Apple OS that you have installed. I am not a Mac user myself, but I have seen similar issues in the past of this nature. If you let me know this specific information, I will try and assist you further with this.
