Importing video from DCR-TRV110E to a Macbook
I am trying to import video ( old V8 tapes ) from my DCR-TRV110E camcorder to my MacBook Pro on IMovie 10.0.5. The camcorder is connected via Firewire.
The films will play both picture and sound , but won't import - has anyone solved this problem ?
Thanks

Unfortunately this doesn't help - the DCR-TRV110E is not supported by IMovie 10.0.5 - you can view the film via the Import function but can not capture the data - very dissappointing. The camcorder is connected to the MacBook via a firewire cable

Correct (sorry my mistake), so, you can download and install previous version of iMovie:
https://support.apple.com/downloads/imovie
If you don't have OS El Capitan you can try with PlayMemories Home for Mac:
