SONY HDR-XR550VE / Data Error

Recording in any mode gives a data error ( whether in hdd or memory stick pro - hg duo ) then recovering data then it restarts and after that if press the record button the above process is repeated.
I have tried emptying and formatting the media ( hdd ) several times won't work. Tried repair img. db f. also didn't work. Resetting to factory settings also didn't work.
It's no more warranty , bought in 2010.

I was wondering if you might be able to give me some advice?

Many Thanks in advance.

Hi Nermand,

This sounds a bit unusual to me. What's the exact error that you get?

Cheers,

Hi ,

In HD Quality Mode during record it shows a message on the screen " Data Error" It then shuts down and reboots with a message "Recovering Data" . Sometimes the camcorder saves the recordings on a hard drive, sometimes not .The recordings are with a glitch and no audio. When the camera is in STD Mode during record it shows a message on the screen ''Buffer overflow'' and never saves the recordings on a hard drive. It also doesn't seem to matter if I am recording to the hard disc or the SD Pro Duo card, the errors are the same.

Any suggestions to resolve the issue is greatly appreciated.

Hello

Did you get a solution for your issue. It looks like I have the exact same problem. My camcorder is a HDR-CX550E, with 64G internal memory, and same problem, both on internal flash memory and on SD Card.

Data error / Recovering Data and restart as soon as I start trying to record HD video.

STD seems to work ok, as well as photo mode. No buffer overflow in my case.

Anybody has a suggestion ?

Thanks

It is a motherboard fault and no repairable, I'm afraid. Sold mine for parts.

I hope this helps.

Unfortunately I was suspecting this 😞

Looks like a faulty capacitor which does not cope with the load related with HD video data flow / encoding, as STD, photo mode and playback seem to run fine.

thanks for the update.
